Whatever your passion, the legal aspects of building your vision are much like the broad three-step process of the creating the work itself:

  • The development stage involves risk mitigation, defining roles and priorities, creative control, entering into contracts, licensing and identifying sources of financing; the production stage;

  • The execution stage involves whatever might come up during the making of the piece, which may include circumstances covered by the contracts and planning stage and may include unexpected challenges that require swift, professional, and level-headed legal counsel to work through, including entering into new contracts, identifying different sources for funding or project vendors, and mitigating among the team to keep the project together; and,

  • The post-production stage involves enforcement of contracts, credits, and other disputes or issues that may come up after your work is in the world.

Your work is the result of years or decades of highly specialized training and deeply personal commitments.

No one is entitled to take advantage of that.  In the world of AI, your art is at higher risk of theft, depriving you of the credit and financial benefits that are yours alone to enjoy.  Younger and lesser experienced artists are particularly vulnerable to theft of work, which may come from digital theft or even manipulation from fraudulent or uncaring agents and advisors.  A trustworthy legal partner can help eliminate that threat and allow you to enjoy the rights and benefits of your work for years to come.
